External Subtitles - Hide macOS system files

  • I use a mac for preparing external subtitles - for each file on a volume (eg. on an exFAT USB drive) macOS creates an additional file starting with "._". these appear as an additional external subtitle on the Magnetar.  Eg. if there is 1 srt file, it will show 2.  If there are 2 srt files, it will show 4.

Selecting the srt corresponding to the "._" file will freeze/lock the player (UDP800 in my case).

Is it possible to please hide these files starting with "._" so they do not appear as an additional external subtitle?

  • @Joshua Smith We do not recommend selecting AppleDouble files for subtitle playback as they are not subtitle files, they are extended data the Mac OS writes when storing on external drives .

Simply delete them from the directory .

  • The extended data files are difficult to delete when using Mac OS - they are hidden.

However, with the new firmware update (released today?), I am now able to tell which are the problem files as the filenames are displayed on screen.  Thanks for adding that feature.
